What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
Well I went to Troys house yesterday for a wheel bearing question, and some chat time, and he wanted to feel the 4.44. So I let him drive my car around, and I drove his behind mine. And I have to say that I like the feel of the stock SVX tranny, over the 4.44. It gives a smoother ride, and I really dont need the extra power. So what would I need to go back to stock? Dunno if anyone local would want to do this.. but I could throw out the idea of a direct trade, my 4.44 setup, for your stock setup. If no one wants to do that, what would I need to replace? -Dennis

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
How much would it cost to do this?

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
Actually you might find someone willing to swap parts straight up, so you would only be out the labor costs. I agree with you though, I prefer the stock gearing.

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
Then the issue is finding someone close enough, who is willing to make the trade... hint hint

Does Earl have a 4.44 in his stable? Lord knows, he has everything else.

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
I would totally be willing to go for this, but my transmission has some stuff wrong with it, so I have a feeling I would be getting the better end of the stick....the running end I think...

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
I forgot to mention, the front diff is good, and the rear is all good. My problem is somewhere there's a leak on the transmission I don't know how to fix and so thus far I have chosen to not move it.

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
Hey Dennis, you can't judge stock trannies by mine though, because it has super secret mods that make it drive so good.
I'm somewhat tempted, you saw I was having fun with the 4.44, but you also heard my complaints. If I had two SVXes, then definitely I'd switch one out with you. But that's not happening any time soon.

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
Do tell those secrets :P :P
Yeah, it is fun, but I also have pretty much the same complaints as you do. Im not so much into the speed factor of things here, what good is it anyways when you cant use it to its extent, you know? I would rather have the smoother ride overall, even if it isnt quite as smooth as yours, lol.

Re: What would it take to go 4.44 back to stock?
We've had a few PMs about this with no solution, so I'll see if anyone here has any brilliant ideas.
I'm wanting to trade my stock setup for the 4.44s, but I live in CO and mysvxrocks lives in WA. Any ideas of how we could do a swap without having to be without our vehicles and incur shipping expenses? If there was someone in between our locations that has the expertise for this sort of thing, I bet we could each drive there and make a weekend of it. I don't know about mysvxrocks, but I could probably scrounge up a few bucks for whomever's time and trouble (not much, but it might make it worth your while). Any takers? Or other ideas?

No one in between us somewhere who would be willing to help out a couple fellow SVX owners?
