Re: got my HID's working!!!!
Car looks great but for the love of all that is holy in this world, please remove the windshield washer nozzle lights. I put a pair on my car for a few weeks as a joke, and when I removed the things there were HUGE yellow oxidation rings where the rubber gasket had been sitting under the plastic. Hopefully those aren't BLAZING WINDSQUEEN brand from DealExtreme, or you may be in for the same fate.

Re: got my HID's working!!!!
Bought my first SVX in 1992, so I've been driving these beasts for a long time...the only issue I had with the car was being able to see at night, it was terrible. Specially in winter, where you'd be better off with a high powered flashlight from the drivers seat than the grim and salt covered headlights.
Since I put in HID's for driving/fog lights and low beam, I can at last see perfectly in all conditions...one of the best upgrades you can do in my opinion.

Re: got my HID's working!!!!
thanks guys, and yes thre is a big difference in visiblilty at night.
there is no gasket on those washer lights, i think they will blend in when i get my blue neons. which will also match with my reverse glow gauges. |

But I guess if neons, lit washer nozzles, and such, aren't "ricey", I wonder what you think IS ricey? Granted no park-bench-size universal-fit wings, or flatulent exhaust cans... which would definitely be out of place... Personally, some good LED replacement lighting, HIDs, etc... are fine. I never got into the whole "glow under the car" and the lit up washer jets thing... Just not that functional for me, but to each their own. I don't mean to discourage you from doing what you want. I am just some typing guy on "the interweb." I guess I didn't figure that SVX was the car of choice for such modifications, but SVX is a nice car, so why not mod it with lighting, I guess. Have fun, there is only one trip around this crazy world. Last edited by BoxerFanatic; 06-17-2009 at 12:12 PM. |

At least it means the SVX is getting some use, giving joy to people. NewKid17, your name says it all. Post up pictures of your mods when you have it all in place. Some round here might not like certain mods, but don't let that deter you. Without people having the gumption to try some improvements, we would never know what works or what doesn't.

When I bought my CXD Japanese car it was fitted by the last owner Graeme with a set of 12000K hids on the dipped beams. He bought them for megabucks from California when HIDs were new technology, I have the bills for purchase and shipping. It looked really cool and all, the light output was nearly purple. They are switched on in this photo: CXD with 12000K dipped beams The trouble was, the light was nearly invisible to the human eye at night. It was unsafe to drive on the dipped lights, you could see Jack .... I replaced them with 6000K lamps in January. I am not exaggerating or punning to say they are now brilliant. Joe

Re: got my HID's working!!!!
Looks good I like the hid's. Thats the color I would like to get for my SVX.
The washer nozzles I'm going to have to agree are over the top. I like underglow I'm not gonna lie, I have blue neons inside and doing a full blue conversion and will be doing led tail lights, but honestly in my opinion, it's more show car than ricey. Now the washer nozzle lights ya... a bit ricey, but at least you kept it clean and didn't put 100 decals and stickers half of which are brands that don't make anything for the svx or put a fart can exhaust or gigantic spoiler of sorts on it. You will catch a lot of flack for trying anything moderately new age on the svx, there are a lot of old farts on here who just don't understand it. we still love them all though! but to each their own! at least you're not pimpin out a civic with 5 tv's in the trunk that noone will ever watch.... |

Re: got my HID's working!!!!
looks good. that exactly looks like 8000k color to me.
make sure your headlights are properly aligned so it won't blind other oncoming cars. i'm so tempted to get one already. one of my low beams just went out. that means it's time to get better one. i'm thinking it's either 4500k or 5000k. What are the worries about HID? if you're driving a lot of short distances, always turn on and off your headlights (engine off and on), is that going to kill or shorten your HID bulb's lifespan or its ballasts?? Do you guys connect any ground wires for your ballasts?
