Painted Center Caps

I was sick of looking at my worn out center caps and decided I would go with black to match my ebony. Let me know what you think, and any other suggestions or comments appreciated!! BTW....I know my wheels are on backwards lol : )

I've seen it a few times... but I prefer a silver touch up...not that hard to match the wheels

but that doesn't look all that bad... better painted than faded...

I don't like the black effect.

On '92 cars and later, but particularly '92, the centre caps did not match the dark silver paint. Two schemes you might consider:
  1. Get a paint shop to match up the silver on the wheels, and use filler to fill in the SUBARU writing so it is incognito and paint matched
  2. Paint them chrome. The studs are already chrome. I'm not a fan of bling, but I think chrome centres will look good on a silver or on a black SVX

Re: Painted Center Caps

Thanks for the tips, I was debating between black and chrome, plus I was kinda bored today. Ill keep it for a few days and see. Does anyone know how big of a tire and rim can be put on. I probably would keep 16's but i was thinking about a 17 upgrade, well once the job picks up : )

Re: Painted Center Caps

18's... probably a mistake.

17's... look pretty cool, depending on the wheel selection, and handle pretty well!

My opinion...

Re: Painted Center Caps

I did the same thing with my ebony. It may not be perfect, but as someone else said its way better than faded silver caps.

Re: Painted Center Caps

I also went with....... well its almost black, darkest green in the world, something I already had and did the job while rotating tires, better than faded to tan..........G

Re: Painted Center Caps

I like my 18's. They are a harsher ride than the 16's but I enjoy the handling characteristics

Re: Painted Center Caps

I realize there are a lot of "purists" here, but the way I see it is it's your car man. You're the one footing the repair bills, you're the one who has to be seen driving it every day. Do what you want with it, and if someone doesn't like it don't let them ride shotgun

The center caps can just be "popped out" while the wheels are on the car.
