Re: a little talk about my stock engine.. need some helpp..
Are you going to rebuild it or just reseal it?
First thing you will want to do is get an engine hoist and go through the process of pulling the engine. After that, it's not all that complicated as long as you have some mechanical know-how, that is if you are just doing a reseal of the engine. Depending on how far you plan on tearing down the engine will determine how tough and complicated it gets... |

Re: a little talk about my stock engine.. need some helpp..
well it depends on how much i can spend.. id like to get it done like Cam did on his 11:1 project with new pistons, etc.. how much would u estimate a project like that being? pretty much having a brand new engine..

Somewhere in the $5-7k range, possibly more provided you are doing all of the assembly and installation yourself...

Re: a little talk about my stock engine.. need some helpp..
I am about 8500 dollars into my rebuild. She is done waiting for my next day off so she can go into the car. But I went above and beyond on a lot of things. 5-7k is a reasonable estimate for a rebuild. You could probably rebuild the heads, reseal the engine, and replace anything needing it for around 2k.

New solenoids under the intake manifold. Silicone vacuum lines. New knock sensors. IFR6E11 NGK laser iridium spark plugs. Royal Purple engine oil. Mobil 1 oil filter. If you break your block down all the way, you will add a lot of cost to your rebuild. If you take your pistons out of the block, you will have to re-ring them (expensive in itself). If you only are looking to have a truly solid engine, I would reseal it, and replace any suspect sensors that are not easy to access with the engine in the car. Anything that is hard to get to should be done as preventative maintenence. MAYBE re-ring the pistons. a leak down test will let you know if that would be worth while. Good luck. PM me if you have any questions.
