Transmission Hose - not connected?
Hello. Today I was under the car and noticed a hose near the top passengers side of the transmission that was just hanging there with an open end facing down. Pulling on it did not give much and I could not see anywhere that looks like it shuld be plugged in. My question is whether there should be an open ended hose hanging above the shift linkage for some purpose (like breather air or something?) Should I take it back to the shop and tell them they might have forgotten to plug in that hose?
For History: I had a replacement (Used) transmission from '96 put in my '92 about two weeks ago. Since then the 1-2 shift has been a bit harsh and I recently noticed a very small ammout of trans fluid on the bottom of the pan after putting about 100 miles on it. Thanks! Mitch

Re: Transmission Hose - not connected?
There should be two black hoses, 1/4" ID at the top of the transmission as vents.

Re: Transmission Hose - not connected?
Those are the breathers for the trans case.
Check the fluid between the trans and the front diff. Hopefully the shop was smart engough not to install ATF in both.

Re: Transmission Hose - not connected?
Thank you gentlemen! You helped me to not look too stupid when I called the transmission shop They charged me for Gear oil so I think that is what is in the front differential. Can that be checked easily in the car? That little dip stick seems hard to get to.
Since the last transmission shifted fine 1-2 (but not 2-3) I am thinking something with this one like possibly Solinoid 'A' could be sticking or the forward clutch needs something... After it was put in they needed to replace the transfer clutch since the gear had sheared off. I suppose there may be some repercussions due to that breakage. Thanks for the help!
