Window problem
We took the SVX to Florida over Thanksgiving and I ran into a bit of a problem.
I was trying to run the driver's side window down to mention something to my wife in the motel parking lot, and the window went down about 3 inches and stopped. It ran back up just fine, and I tried again several times with the same result. I cycled the window lock button just our of frustration but nothing would allow it to go all the way down. Not wanted to press my luck with having it STAY down, I didn't mess with it again since then. Any ideas? Thanks! Don

Re: Window problem
when mine did that the cable had slipped out of one of the wheels because a little plastic collar that feeds it into a tube had cracked and dislodged it.

Re: Window problem
Watch out. Mine did that then it separated and dropped. Its pretty easy to take the panel off and see what the issue is. For mine, I need to get the lefter mechanism about $150.
Good luck and hopefully its an easy fix. Cheers, Adam |

Re: Window problem
Thanks for the help guys! Does anyone know the part number for that plastic sleeve thing? Jerry could help me take the door apart this weekend if I can get the right part to fix it with...

Re: Window problem
i bought a used regulator/motor to avoid messing with it in the future but have used a home made plastic sleeve that i made out of a pen case with some success.

Re: Window problem
Drove up to Jerry's on Saturday, since he had experience with taking the door apart, and we made an interesting discovery.
It was not the sleeve lock regulator at all.....the cable had somehow slipped to the INSIDE of the regulator bracket and was stopping the window after about 3 inches of downward travel. It seemed to have a bit too much slack in it, but it still took a bit of effort to make it get back out of position again, and neither Jerry or I could see what would have made that happen. He discovered something that seemed to be a tightening adjustment in the lower front and succeeded in taking a bit of slack from the wire, and then we discovered the wire had slipped behind a guide wheel at the bottom of the door. That was put on track with an additional attempt to tighten it. We could still flip the wire out of place with our fingers, but we couldn't imagine what would make it do it on its own...no slamming of the door would seem to be the culprit. Anyway, it works for now, and I got a good lesson in how to remove the door if it does it again. If there is another plastic sleeve that is supposed to guide the cable, we couldn't find it or figure out where it would have been located or how it could have been fitted. I now have two regulator sleeves for the future when the current ones fail. Thanks for all the input guys! Don
