Repacking Bbearings
I've read of people replacing the grease of the rear wheel bearings with high performance grease.
I just got some Timkin bearings and they look like a sealed unit. How do you change the grease? What type do you find works best?

Re: Repacking Bbearings
If its for your SVX they should not be sealed units.
They are most likely held together with a plastic sleeve that you can push out with your thumb. I always wash them completely with kerosine, repetedly, blow them out with 100psi air, wash them again with brake cleaner, blow them out again, allow them to dry, and then pack them with Advance Auto Parts Hi-Temp EP (Extreme Pressure) Grease. I have used all kinds of expencive greases, and I like the feel and reliability of the AAP stuff. By the way, I allways use way too much grease! I'd rather clean up a mess than have a bearing run dry.

Re: Repacking Bbearings
What's the Timken part number on the bearing and race? I need to buy me a set for the front.

Re: Repacking Bbearings
That plastic collar in the center comes out, it's just to keep the bearing assembly together for shipping, push it out and you'll have 2 bearings and one large, 2 sided race.
