Headliner removal

I plan on picking up a new headliner this weekend. Can this be done in a non-destructive way? I don't want to spend hours doing this if there is a simple trick.

Re: Headliner removal

Yes pretty easy.

Almost everything unscrews to release it (light, sun visors, etc.), except for a few clips right at the rear near the glass.

Once you've dropped it down, it rotates to come out through a wide open door.

If doing it by yourself, put your seats upright and use their headrests to balance it until you've separated the whole thing. Or use a 3 year old daughter if you've got one handy. I did at the time, and she was just the right height.

Re: Headliner removal

What about all of the pillar covers? Do you have to remove the rear armrest panels to take down the pillar covers? Can you leave the pillar covers partially in place? I don't want to break any clips taking them apart:roll eyes:

I also have a pair of split folding rear seats and trunk carpet for anyone who wants them. The seats have a rip at the top and the trunk has a fluid dried in the corner which made it stiff

I can't recall sorry, as I was stripping the entire interior anyway, so I don't remember exactly what order those went out.

Re: Headliner removal

Thanks for the tips flamestone. I got it out this morning, all pillars can be removed with the panels/dash in place. It actually came out really easy, just drop and turn right out the door.
