Silly question
Has anyone used an overly aggressive snow tire on their svx? Just wondering what off road type light truck tire could fit on stock rims. I recall dessert runner using something similar but I think his were on 15" rims.

Re: Silly question
215/65/16 is technically not a snow tire. It's one of the few sizes of that tire without the "snowflake" designation. I know PA has no mandatory snow tire law so it's not an big deal.
I'm just trying to look smort, I mean smart. To show I gots book learnin'. |

Re: Silly question
it's a studdable tire. i think that makes it good enough but i did not notice the snowflake designation.

Re: Silly question
I have Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7s with studs on mine. 215/60-16. Absolutely maximun size on stock wheels. Very slight rub on the fender liners (outer side wall). Also, when the vehicle is lifted off the ground they (rear tires) rub at the front inner side - this is no real problem, though.

Re: Silly question
So would a 60 or 65 be a better fit? Would either throw off the speedometer after 20+ years of spinning at the same diameter, I don't want to upset the transmission.

Re: Silly question
Don't really know what you're trying to do exactly, but conventional wisdom is that narrower tires are better in deep snow than wider. Can't say as I know about sidewall height.
Aggressive tread try Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8. I've used Nokian for years, though not this new model. http://www.nokiantyres.com/winter-ty...kkapeliitta-8/ As far as speedo error here's a calculator: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php?tires

Re: Silly question
Were you thinking of using a off road tire like you would find on a Jeep? I think something designed specifically for snow is probably your best option. I use General Altimax Arctic on mine. 205 55 16 on stock wheels.

Re: Silly question
According to Tapani 60 will rub slightly so 65 is out for sure unless you like the sound and smell of burning, rubbing plastic and rubber.
