driver side door lock

My driver side door lock does not work. I looked to see if there's a swich like in the trunk to disable it but I couldn't find one. Should I just take it to the local locksmith to fix? I hate having to unlock my passenger side door and reaching in to unlock the driver door. I am in the process of fixing my remote transmitter!

door lock

It does lock but won't unlock with the key. The passenger side does both and that's my only way into the car with the keyless remote not working. I did fix my remote now with the eight little batteries changed for the one big one!!!!

Your key is probably too worn. I have the same problem with the lock cylinders because I almost never use the key in the door or the trunk.

Key is probably worn OK. But get a can of silicon releasing oil [do you guys have WD-40 or equivalent?] The lock tumblers are stuck with dirt.

Use a can with the squirter nozzle. Force it into the lock, squirt in all directions. Use your key to see if you are getting movement.

Be very careful if doing this with an original chrome on brass key!

A steel key is less likely to break in the lock. Don't use enough force that might shear the key in the lock. If you have a spare key that is less worn, use that.

Pump in more oil than you think is sensible. It will free it. That is what the locksmith did with mine.

Bon chance

Joe

Don't use WD-40. It has molybdenum disulfide particles suspended in a light oil base. This attracts dirt after awhile. Instead use a pure silicone spray. Most real hardware stores carry it.
