To worry or not to worry...

I've searched for signs of wheel bearing failure but it seems most make a lot of noise at any speed. In my car, there is a loud amount of "road noise" at exactly 60-62mph, anything higher or lower seems noisy. Could this be the bearings or is it just normal noise?

Is it coming from ALL directions? Bearing failure will manifest itself (usually) at one corner or another. Try rotating your tires and see if the noise changes (BTW what kind of tires are you running? Check the tirerack.com site for their reviews and see if your tire is typically noisy). If a bearing is about to go, YOU'LL KNOW IT. The tone starts out as a low "tire noise" type sound, increasing in pitch with speed, then, develops into a sound that sounds like you've suddenly put a MONSTER MUD GRIP tire on your car.

That's what I thought...

I actually noticed it with the antenna up, but it didn't go away when I turned off the radio. It must be the tires since the sound does not change as you described with the bearing failure. Thanks for the help.

P.S. Hmmmm....Monster mud grip tires, might be fun!

Hmm... You can fold down the rear seat to get a better "ear" on it.

Try the tire roation first if you haven't done it in awhile. I screwed up inthis department recently. I have high wear on the inside of my front tires and the noise has changed since I rotated them to the back.
